Abstract (EN)
The Performance Based Plastic Design (PBPD) method is a simple and powerful design method that uses the target drift as well as the yield mechanism state as design principles at the beginning of the design. In this study, it is aimed to compare the PBPD method and Deformation Based Design Method, which is one of the two basic approaches for the design of building structural systems under the effect of earthquake according to 2018 TBDY, for the design of reinforced concrete frame. Within the scope of this thesis, two prototype reinforced concrete moment frames with 4 and 8 floors are considered. These prototype frames were designed separately according to both methods. The performances of the buildings, designed according to these two methods were compared by nonlinear dynamic time history analysis.
