Abstract (EN)

White muscle disease or muscular dystrophy of lambs is an enzootic, nutritional disease characterized by hyaline degeneration of skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle and diaphragm due to selenium and vitamin E deficiency. In this study, it was aimed to determine thiol/disulfide balance (TDD) parameters, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), total oxidant capacity (TOC), oxidative stress index (OSI), cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels and CK-MB, AST and LDH activities in lambs with white muscle disease and to reveal the diagnostic efficiency of these parameters. The animal material of the study will consist of a total of 35 lambs, 25 1-8 week old lambs with white muscle disease symptoms and 10 healthy lambs from different regions of Siirt province. After routine clinical examination of all animals, blood samples will be taken from the vena jugularis of clinically diagnosed lambs with white muscle disease and healthy lambs in accordance with the method and the blood will be centrifuged at 3000 rpm/10 min and serum will be removed. TAC, TOC, Total thiol (TT), native thiol (NT) and cTnI analyses will be performed in blood samples from healthy and white muscle diseased lambs using a commercial kit according to the test procedure recommended by the manufacturer. CK-MB, AST and LDH activities will be determined on an autoanalyzer. OSI levels, Disulfide (Ds) concentration and Ds/NT, Ds/TT and NT/TT ratios will be calculated by formula. The data obtained will be analyzed using SPSS 26 package software.
