Abstract (EN)

Thanks to the rapid advancement of technology in recent years, the impact of various applications and methods used in biomedical measurements on disease detection is significant. Developing technology positively impacts human life in many ways. Today, the use of antennas is frequently preferred in biomedical applications. Due to advancements in technology, medical applications have become more scientific and technical.Antenna use is frequently seen in applications such as imaging systems, disease diagnosis, radiation therapy systems, and body-worn security devices. Antenna design for medical applications differs from traditional antenna analysis. It requires significant research on impedance, bandwidth, antenna losses, and body compatibility. The fundamental characteristics of system elements are desired: small size, light weight, and low cost. The microstrip technology used provides these features. As with any disease, early diagnosis is crucial for cerebrospinal diseases. This study focuses on the measurement results of a healthy individual's brain structure and a tumor-affected brain structure. A brain phantom was created with a rectangular antenna design operating in the 1.5-3 GHz range and suitable for microwave imaging applications. The antenna was fed by a 50-ohm microstrip transmission line measuring 29 x 29 mm² and 1.6 mm thick. The antenna was simulated using the CST Studio Suite, and an antenna with appropriate dimensions was produced based on the simulation results. The S parameter of the fabricated antenna was measured using a Network Analyzer at the TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute. Electromagnetic compatibility tests of the fabricated antenna were conducted in an anechoic chamber at the TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute. This thesis examines the design, fabrication, and measurement results of antennas for use in biomedical applications. Future applications cannot be expected to be limited to current studies. The use of antennas in various forms will inevitably occur in all biomedical applications, especially those related to human health.
