Abstract (EN)

This research work's purpose is to point out the effects of the development of computer technology on material concept which is expressed on architectural work. As an expression of architectural thought, the development and change of physical material is examined and the factors which affects the development and change are determined. The effects of the development of computer technology on material and the new architectural concepts are investigated. How the concept of virtual architecture affects the material is explained. Material concept, the development and change of material is examined by the analysing of the projects which were applied or will be applied. The purpose is the examination of to which point material concept is coming and what the situation is recently. Nowadays, regarding to non-materialism, like 'dematerialization', 'immateriality', new concepts become interesting. 'Information age' which is supported by information flow is not generous to supply material and image. The approach of architects to convert the information flow to a space is a newness for the material concept. That is to say to use the information as a material is courageous and surprising current. Also, electronic media is in co-operation with the structure of the building. Keywords : Computer technology, architectural material, virtual architecture, information flow, electronic media.
