Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the level of motivation for children's choir activities in Science and Art Centers. A descriptive research method was used in a screening model. The population of the study consisted of 8 BİLSEMs located in Turkey with choirs. The sample consisted of 174 students aged between 8-18 years randomly selected from the children's choirs of BİLSEMs in Samsun, Antalya, Ordu, Isparta, Burdur, Çanakkale, and Mersin. The KDMÖ developed by Aykut Önder Sarıçiftçi and Hüsniye Seval KÖSE was used in the study. The Cronbach-Alpha reliability coefficient of KDMÖ was found to be 0.88. For the validity of the study, DAF was conducted. Before deciding which analysis to use, the normal distribution of the data was evaluated by Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. Independent sample t-tests were used for binary comparisons of normally distributed data, while ANOVA was used for more than two variables. Games-Howell post hoc analysis was applied to determine which groups differed in significant analyses based on Levene test results. The relationship between the scale and sub-dimensions was evaluated using Pearson correlation test. SPSS v23 statistical program was used to analyze the research data. According to the results of the study, it was found that the sub-dimension with the highest level of correlation with choir motivation was potential awareness, while the sub-dimension with the lowest correlation was value. All sub-dimensions were highly correlated, and as potential awareness increased, choir motivation increased more. It was also found that as the value dimension increased, choir motivation increased less compared to other dimensions. A significant difference was observed according to gender, age, and school type. It was determined that the value level of female students was higher than male students. When the choir motivation scale and sub-dimensions were evaluated according to age, it was found that the value level of the group aged 15 and over was high. According to school type, it was determined that the value level of students in state schools was higher than those in private schools. There was no difference observed according to playing instruments, instrument type, career choice, concert attendance frequency, and music genre listened to. Keywords: BİLSEM, Choir, Children's Choir, Motivation, Choir Motivation.
