Bilinçli farkındalıkla zenginleştirilmiş dil öğretimi mobil aracının tasarımı ve kullanımı üzerine bir çalışma: Hizmet öncesi İngilizce öğretmenlerinin algıları

The present study presents the developmental procedures of a mobile application named MELTApp, designed to support Mindfulness-Enhanced Language Teaching (MELT) and investigates pre-service EFL teachers' experiences regarding the use of the mobile application and the accompanying five-week training. The study also sought to explore whether the training had an impact on the participants' mindfulness levels. A total of 19 participants participated in the study. Quantitative data were gathered through the pre- and post-administration of the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), and qualitative data were collected through weekly reflective logs and semi-structured interviews. While descriptive and non-parametric tests were used to analyze the quantitative data, the Constant Comparison Method (CCM) was applied to analyze the qualitative data. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in participants' mindfulness levels after the training. The participants found the training sessions pedagogically informative and engaging. They also viewed MELTApp as a user-friendly and versatile tool that provided both personal and professional support. In particular, participants reported that MELTApp could be effectively integrated into language teaching contexts. Nevertheless, suggestions were made for improving app design. Grounded in existing literature, the findings offer pedagogical implications for integrating mindfulness and educational technology into language teaching.
