Abstract (EN)

It is eventually important to educate primary school students as good computer literates in these days-the times usage of computers spreads in every field. Therefore, it is thought that searching for the perceptions of the teachers, who are the practioners of the program, related to having information and communication technologies (ICT) lesson as optional is really important.The basic objective of this study is to research the perceptions of the teachers considering the advantages and disadvantages of having ICT lesson as optional lesson at primary schools.Descriptive analysis was used in this study and subjectives of the study were computer and computer formative teachers (83) who work at state primary schools in Eskişehir in 2008-2009 academic year. 68 of the 83 teachers were reached and %81.9 of the questionnaires were returned.The data was gathered through a questionnaire, which was developed by the researcher, including two parts and totally 53 questions. SPSS 16.0.0 was used to apply T-Test and One Way ANOVA to analyze the data.According the results of this study, half of the teachers perceive positively about having ICT lesson as optional lesson and half of the teachers perceive negatively about having ICT lesson as optional lesson. The gender and age factors are not effective to the results, but the extention of working is effective.
