Abstract (EN)
The primary objective of this doctoral study is to comprehensively examine the effects of cognitive training on the performance of football players, aged 16 to 19, in small-sided games. This study employs an experimental research method, with players undergoing cognitive training sessions twice weekly over a six-week period. Each session lasted 10 minutes and aimed to enhance players' attention, focus, decision-making, and quick reaction abilities. Utilizing Senaptec cognitive training glasses, players were presented with visual and perceptual stimuli to improve their cognitive performance. These specialized glasses served as a training tool to increase cognitive load, enabling players to make faster and more accurate decisions. The study meticulously measured and analyzed players' reaction times, ball contact frequency, pass accuracy rates, and various technical parameters. The findings reveal that cognitive training led to statistically significant improvements in players' performance metrics. For instance, reaction times improved by 15% (p<0.05), while pass accuracy rates exhibited a significant 12% increase (p<0.01). These statistical developments underscore the positive effects of cognitive training, particularly on technical skills such as passing accuracy. Additionally, the group that underwent cognitive training demonstrated a 10% increase in ball contacts (p<0.05), indicating an enhanced level of active engagement during gameplay. Collectively, these findings highlight the potential of cognitive training to enhance both the technical and mental abilities of football players. In conclusion, the study's findings suggest that integrating cognitive training practices into football training programs could serve as an effective tool for optimizing player performance. Specifically, in small-sided games, such training possesses the potential to elevate players' focus, rapid decision-making, and responsive skills, which can contribute substantially to game performance and overall team success. This study indicates that cognitive training could hold a significant place in training programs, supporting the development of young football players.
