Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between individuals' cognitive emotion regulation strategies and their levels of suicidal ideation and to investigate the moderationg role of dispositional hope in this relationship. Additionally, the study aims to explore these constrcuts in relation to various sociodemographic variables, factors related to suicide, loss and relational protective factors. The sample of the study consisted of 431 participants aged between 18 and 65 with a mean age of 34.79±13.22. Suicide Ideation Scale, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnare, Dispositional Hope Scale and Beck Depression Inventory were used for data collection. Data were gathered through online survey forms. For data analysis, independent samples t-tests, Pearson correlation analysis, simple linear regression and hierarchical regresssion analyses for moderation effects were employed. The findings indicated that cognitive emotion regulation strategies such as acceptance, self-blame, rumination, blaming others and catastrophizing positively predicted suicidal ideation, whereas positive refocusing, refocus on planning and positive reapprasial negatively predicted suicidal ideation. Dispositional hope negatively predicted suicidal ideation. Furthermore, dispositional hope played a moderating role in the relationship between suicidal ideation and the strategies of rumination, self-blame and positive refocusing. The results demonstarte that cognitive emotion regulation strategies have significant effects on suicidal ideation. Dispositional hope may act as a protective factor against suicidal ideation by weakening the impact of risk enhancing strategies and strengthening the effects of adaptive strategies.
