Abstract (EN)
In recent years, bimetal or laminated metal composite materials made of two or more different metal components have been used in many industrial applications due to their combination of mechanical, thermal, corrosion resistance and different functional properties. As innovative manufacturing industries become more and more prominent because of environmental problems and the need to limit energy use, designing and developing new materials with multifunctional physical properties has become increasingly important. In addition, limiting the use of scarce and costly metals used in metallurgical industries has also become much more important in recent years. This can be achieved by switching from a single-layer structure to a multilayer metal composite structure in which each layer provides a specific set of physical properties. In this thesis, analytical, numerical and experimental studies were carried out on the bending properties of bimetal plates obtained by bonding two different types of sheets to investigate the mechanical effects during the bending process of metallic sheets consisting of two layers and their subsequent spring back behavior. Sandwich panels, consisting of a low-density core and thin (top and bottom) skins, are widely used in applications requiring a combination of high structural rigidity and lightness, such as in the aviation, marine and railway industries. A numerical model was developed to predict the deformation behavior of each part and specific planes such as neutral, undeformed and bonding interface along the thickness section under plane strain condition during bending process, and systematic simulation studies were conducted considering the positions, thicknesses and process parameters of the sheets. In order to prove the accuracy of the simulation studies, references were made to the studies in the literature and a limited number of experimental studies were conducted. The obtained results showed that bimetal sheets provide significant advantages in terms of strength and spring back compared to single material plates.
