Abstract (EN)

Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that cause great loss of life and accidents. A large part of our country is in danger of earthquakes. Therefore, all of the structures we will build must be earthquake resistant. Some rules are needed for buildings to be earthquake resistant. These construction rules are determined as earthquake regulations. In this study, the effects of building height and soil classes on earthquake load were investigated according to the Turkish Building Earthquake Code of 2007, which was repealed, and 2018. For each earthquake code, a structure with a ductile frame-shear wall load-bearing system was examined. Considering that the structures with the load-bearing system are built on the same parcel, the soil classes in the Turkish Earthquake Code 2007 (Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4) and the corresponding ground classes in the Turkish Building Earthquake Code 2018 (ZA, ZC, ZD and ZE) are taken into account. Earthquake loads were calculated for four different building heights. While the base shear forces are expected to increase as the soil class deteriorates; In the findings obtained, it was determined that there was no linear increase in some ground classes and building heights according to the Turkish Earthquake Code 2007, but there was a linear increase according to the Turkish Building Earthquake Code 2018. It has been observed that the horizontal elastic spectral acceleration values are effective in the earthquake force calculation of the structure as the reason for these complex results. For this reason, it has been evaluated how horizontal elastic spectral accelerations together with the soil class and building heights affect the earthquake force in the buildings. As a result of the analyses made, the greatest increase in base shear forces; according to TDY-2007, it was determined to be an eleven-story building in Z4 soil class, and an eight-storey building in ZE soil class according to TBDY-2018 (TBDY-2018 BYS=6).
