Erotic as a means of expression and use of it in theater esthetic

This thesis aims at explicating the relation between the art of theatre and eroticism which is created by the aesthetical expression of the sexuality in the process of evolution. In this thesis, it is endeavoured to be stated the methods and objectives of using eroticism, which has been considered as a powerful way of expressing something for ages in the art of theatre, and in the light of perception of sexuality, it is tried to be clarified the short history of eroticism in the art of theatre.In the direction of this aim, the process of evolution from the reproduction function of sexuality to physiological and ideological one is stated and it is mentioned of the basis of using the erotic one as a means of expression in culture and art phenomenon. In the direction of these bases , the scope of using the means of expression of the erotic one is determined in theatre language, and it is aimed at clarifying the ways and objectives of using it from the Antique Greek Theatre to nowadays. In addition to this, this thesis analyzes the historical perspective of the use of erotic expression in Turkish Theatre. In the light of the developments that has affected the perception of sexuality of every period, it is determined the relationship between the use of means of sexual expression and the perception of sexuality.In this thesis, the ways of erotic expression in art of theatre, beside playscripts and anecdotes, it is tried to be given examples from the stage as much as possible, and it is aimed at to display the effects of changings and developments of the means of erotic expression on the art of theatre.Briefly in this thesis, by using the connection between the perception of century?s sexuality and the way of erotic expression which is used in the art of theatre, it is tried to be determined the benefit of using the link between the theatre and eroticism efficiently, so it contains an approach which is aimed at helping to use the means of this expression more effectively.
