Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the converter topology called single-phase z-source buck-boost matrix converter is examined. This converter can lower and raise the output frequency by removing the frequency restriction, or buck and boost the output voltage, or lower or raise the output frequency and buck and boost the output voltage at the same time. This converter structure directly performs the conversion process in one step. The converter allows bidirectional power flow with the used semiconductor switches. The voltage spikes that may occur are prevented by placing a filter at the input of the converter. In addition to these features, safe commutation strategy has been applied in this thesis. With the safe switching strategy, a continuous current path is created by adding dead time to the switches. The working principle of the single-phase z-source buck-boost matrix converter has been examined and the circuit has been analyzed. In order to verify the operating performance of the converter circuit, a simulation study was carried out in the MATLAB / Simulink environment and the results were presented in this study. The simulation results were examined as 25, 50 and 100 Hz output frequencies under R and RL loads. The voltage is bucked and boosted for different frequency values and the results are given.
