Abstract (EN)

In this study, the corporate carbon footprint of a factory producing sealing gaskets for automotive and industrial applications, operating under a three-shift system and employing approximately 250 personnel, was calculated, and emission reduction scenarios were developed. Greenhouse gas emissions were calculated based on IPCC methodologies, the scopes defined by the GHG Protocol, and the ISO 14064-1 standard. Organizational and operational boundaries were determined, and emissions were classified as direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2 and selected Scope 3) emissions. According to the calculation results, the company's direct emissions amounted to 155.32 tCO₂e, while indirect emissions totaled 6,100.93 tCO₂e, resulting in a total carbon footprint of 6,256.24 tCO₂e. The analysis revealed that end-of-life emissions of products account for a significant share (47.95%) of total emissions. This finding indicates that carbon reduction strategies should not be limited solely to production processes but should also encompass product design and life cycle management. This study aims to contribute to sustainable production practices and alignment with climate policies by presenting the carbon footprint calculation process and feasible emission reduction scenarios that can be developed within an industrial enterprise manufacturing for the automotive sector.
