Abstract (EN)

In this study; it is aimed to provide a part of the electrical energy required in existing electric vehicles from the wind energy that occurs in the vehicles in motion, independently of the grid, and thus to increase the distance traveled with a single charge. For this purpose, a vehicle type wind turbine was designed and its effects on vehicle aerodynamic performance and energy efficiency were investigated numerically and experimentally. In this context, a wind turbine model and eight different vehicle models (M0-M7) were created using Solidworks and Spaceclaim programs. At 10, 15, 27 m/s speeds of the created models; computational fluid dynamics simulations were performed using the SST k-ω turbulence model to determine drag coefficients, pressure contours, streamlines, and velocity vectors. ANSYS-Fluent software was used for numerical simulations. As a result of the analysis; it has been seen that the vehicle model, speed and position of the wind turbine have an effect on the vehicle drag coefficient. In addition, the amount of energy to be recovered from the vehicle type wind turbine was calculated and the effect of the turbine on the vehicle energy efficiency was determined. According to this; The percentage of net energy gain obtained from the turbine at a distance of 100 km compared to the M0 model of the M2 and M3 grid models with wind turbines at 27 m/s vehicle speed was found to be 5.82% and 3.35%, respectively. Compared to the M4 model at the same vehicle speed, the percentage of net energy gain obtained from the turbine of the M6 and M7 closed models with wind turbines was 6.19% and 4.17%, respectively. In the experiments carried out by placing the designed wind turbine on the vehicle; The blade revolutions, generated current, voltage and power values of the wind turbine at different vehicle speeds were determined. As a result, it has been seen that if the vehicle type wind turbine system is used in electric vehicles, more energy can be produced from the additional aerodynamic loss that will occur in the vehicle, the range of electric vehicles can be extended with a single charge and the system can be applied in vehicle technology.
