11 ORDER IDEAL GENERATED BY A POSITIVE OPERATOR AND LOCAL APPROXIMATION (Ph.D.Thesis) Ayşe UYAR GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCffiNCE AND TECHNOLOGY May 2001 ABSTRACT We consider the order ideal AT generated by an operator T and investigate when AT is an algebra. We then study the order properties of the commutant of AT and commutant of {T}.
