Abstract (EN)

Water is an indispensable element for the continuity and development of humanity. The Republic of Djibouti is a small country located in East Africa with a semi-arid tropical climate characterized by an average annual rainfall of 150 mm. Although there are no perennial waterways due to the semi-arid climate, irregular rainfall can sometimes have harmful effects on the environment. Djibouti City experienced heavy rains from November to early December 2021, and flash floods occurred throughout Djibouti City, especially in the southeast. Different districts of the city were hit hard by these floods and had to be evacuated (Anonymous 2018). Nearly 300 millimeters of rain was recorded, more than three times the annual average. This rainwater has stagnated everywhere in the capital's districts, on the streets, and continues to be difficult to drain. The aim of this study is based on the investigation and realization of a drainage borehole from the Cent-fil field in Djibouti at a depth of several meters to reach coral reefs. This drilling aims to provide a sustainable alternative solution for the living conditions of local communities in coastal areas affected by stagnant rainwater.
