Abstract (EN)

In the current study, researchers have developed a Uniqueness Resources Scale (URS) to understand in which domains and to what degree people regard themselves unique. In the literature, there are some scales for "The personal sense of uniqueness" and "Need for uniqueness" which provide data on whether individuals perceive themselves unique or not; whether they regard uniqueness as a need; and how strongly regard themselves unique. In addition to that literature, URS will refine our knowledge on uniqueness concept by measuring its levels in different domains. In the preliminary study, initial 24 items pool has been reduced to 12 items scale in which 7 items for internal/personal dimension and 5 items for external/personal dimension. Internal/personal dimension is about people's personal evaluations on "uniqueness" and external/personal dimension is about their perception of others' evaluations. In the main study, URS and other scales of uniqueness conducted in a randomly selected sample. Results showed that URS correlated with these scales to the satisfying degree in line with the literature. Test-retest correlations for internal/personal subscale (r=.82), for external/personal subscale (r=.76) and for total scale (r=.83) were yielded fairly high Pearson coefficients. Finally, using a sample of randomly selected 478 participants, researchers have reached a new psychometric measurement tool on uniqueness. Keywords: Uniqueness, Uniqueness resources, Internal/personal dimension, External/personal dimension
