Abstract (EN)

It's encouraged people to find alternative fuel and improve it that original petroleum fuel, which is the basic fuel of internal combustion engines, is limited. Biodiesel fuels can be produced from vegetable oils are important renewable alternative fuel for diesel engines. It is an oxygenated, sulfur-free, non-toxic, biodegradable, and renewable fuel with a higher cetan number and lubricity. Biodiesel can be used in pure form or mixed with diesel fuel. In this study, canola oil methyl (COME) was produced with transesterification method. The produced canola oil methyl ester was blended in %20, %40 and %60 (in volume) with standard diesel fuel and COME20, COME40 and COME60 fuels were obtained. The blends were tested in the one cylinder diesel engine at 1400, 2000, 2600, 3200 rpm. The effects of blends on the performance, exhaust emissions and vibration of the engine were examined at full load. When the ratio of canola oil methyl ester in standard diesel fuel is increase; reduction on engine power and torque, increase on specific fuel consumption, decreasing on CO, CO2 and smoke density, increasing on HC and NOx emissions has been observed. The maximum engine vibration amplitude was obtained with COME60.The obtained results show that characteristics of canola oil methyl ester close with diesel fuels and it could be used as an alternative diesel fuel.
