Abstract (EN)

ECG measurement, which based on the electrical activities of heart, is a very successful method for detecting the cardiac problems. To monitor a patient?s heart condition, a wireless system would be very useful for the patient and the user to transmit the biopotentials of the heart to a personal computer.The purpose of this thesis is to develop a portable, battery powered system capable of measuring and showing seven different channels of ECG and transmitting the ECG data to a personal computer interface via Bluetooth wireless technology.The user controls the ECG instrument by giving commands from a graphical user interface designed in Matlab 7.8. Requested ECG channel and frequency response selections can be made by given commands. The beats per minute measurement is also available in the system.The connection between the computer and the ECG instrument maintained by a wireless communication, provided by the Bluetooth modules using a Serial Port Profile.
