Abstract (EN)

BODIPY fluorophores have been frequently used in sensor applications in recent years due to their photophysical properties, such as high quantum yield, chemical and light stability, and tunable characteristics. These compounds, due to their ease of application, have a wide range of uses as fluorometric and colorimetric sensors in biological imaging, chemical recognition, and as components in light-harvesting systems. In addition to their use in Suzuki-Miyaura reactions, boronic acid compounds are also employed as fluorescent sensors. In their application as sensors, they are used for the recognition of carbohydrates and ions. Within the scope of this thesis, the synthesis of BODIPY-boronic acid-based compounds and their dual applications as sensors for recognizing ions and carbohydrates were targeted. In the studies conducted, it was determined that these developed sensor structures selectively recognize the Cu²⁺ cation among 14 different cations by forming a complex structure. The formed complex structures were identified through FTIR, HRMS, and theoretical studies. In the second part of the study, the interactions of the synthesized sensor structures with carbohydrates were examined. It was shown that the BODIPY-boronic acid sensors differentiate the disaccaride from monosaccharides. The increase in the absorbance strength of the BODIPY-boronic acid based sensors with the carbohydrate compound lactose is higher than the increase of absorbance strength in monosaccharide compounds glucose and fructose.
