Abstract (EN)
High level performances of elite athletes are affected by many physical, motoric and biochemical factors. Boxing is the one of the fight sports requires a high level of physical capacity and skill. This study was conducted to examine some physical, biomotoric and oxidative stress parameters of Turkish National Boxers during training camp. The study material was consisted of 29 boxers belonging to Turkish Boxing men national team. An eight week training program determined by the Boxing Federation prior to European Championship was applied to the study population. Some physical and biomotoric parameters (e.g. height, weight, body composition, vertical jumping, hand grip strength), and some oxidative parameters (e.g. Malondialdehyde, 8-isoprostane, 4-hydroxynonenal, 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine) of the participants were examined by collecting 10 ml blood samples at the beginning and end of the training camp.In conclusion, significant values were found in the evaluation of some parameters of the boxers during the training camp prior to European Championship. Statistically significant changes (P<0,05) were determined in the parameters of body weight (pre-training camp: 67,44±3,02 kg- post-training camp: 68,44±3,02 kg), vertical jumping (pre-training camp: 43,05±1,83 cm- post-training camp: 44,55±1,81 cm), left hand grip strength (pre-training camp: 46,49±1,92 kg- post-training camp: 47,37±1,86 kg) and serum 8- isoprostane (pre-training camp: 93,02±2,6 pg/ml- post-training camp: 82,02±3,34 pg/ml). Although decreases were detected in the values of other oxidative stress parameters (Malondialdehyde, 4-hydroxynonenal and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine), there were not statistically significant (P> 0,05).As a result, we believe that significant in some parameters will make a positive contribution to the performance of boxers prior to the European Championship.Key words: boxer, physical characteristics, biomotoric characteristics, oxidative stress.
