An investigations on the bolu province solid landfill site and the seasonal changes in the leachate in the landfill site

The changes in some parameters of solid waste leachate over time in Bolu Province Class II Solid Waste Landfill is investigated in this study. Bolu solid waste landfill is a recently launched landfill in 2007. The criteria adopted during the planning of the solid waste landfill were evaluated and the project stages were examined. The landfill area consists of two areas, Lot-1 and Lot-2, and was designed for a total life of 15 years. The Lot-2 site is currently used consists of three parts with areas of 16.500 m², 10.550 m² and 18.929 m². A drainage system has been established to collect leachate in the area of the solid waste landfill and the leachates are collected in a pond. Also, 32 gas chimneys, established 25 vertical and 7 horizontal, were built to collect the methane gas formed during the process. Subsequently, samples were taken every 15 days, changes in some parameters were measured in the samples. It was determined that the leachate formed in the site do not mix with groundwater resources. During the study, the operations are carried out properly and regularly in the Bolu Province Class II Solid Waste Landfill Site and it is projected that the landfill site is well designed to solve the Solid Waste problem in Bolu Province.
