Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTThe substrate materials used fort his study were AISI 1020, AISI 1040 and AISI 2344 steels.AISI 1020 and AISI 1040 steels are widely used in different area of machine constructions. AISI 2344steels are used as hot work toll steel.30 mm in diameter and 4mm in thickness samples from all steels are prepareted forboronizing process.differentsurface roughness has been obtained by using: 80, 150, 240, 600,1000emery paper and to with wet grinding process.Boronizing was performed in a solid medium consisting of Ekabor I powders at 900ºC for 2-4and 6 hours. Test materials to be boronized which contact with Ekabor I powders were placed in asteel containes and then transferred to an electrical resistance furnace. The surface roughness of the samples was measured before and after boronizing using aMitutoya profilometer. The samples are grinded by a special equipment; for 10 minutes and 10-18 or30 times. After the process, the surface roughness are measured by meansof the profilometer and theweight loss are also determined. The surfaces of the samples are photographed by SEM equipment. the bor layer are analizedby XRD equipmentThe micro hardness from the samples are measured in laboratory. The microstructures were photographed by using a Hunt Wetzlard optical microscope, fort hephotograph process the surface are branded with nital solution.Experiments give lots of results. The surface roughness change after boronizing. Generallythe surface roughness increase with the boronizing process time. In same parameters samples; thesample with the less start surface roughness give more change after boronizing the sample with thehigh start surface roughness. Dimension change and bor layer increase after boronizing process. AISI1040 steels (C) quantity is more than AISI 1020 steel and AISI 2344 steels alloy quantity is more thanAISI 1040 steel. Because of this AISI 1020 steel gives thicker and more rijit boron layer than AISI 1040steel. AISI 1040 steel gives better results from AISI 2344. The samples witch is more roughness ofsurface after boronizing, more wear and loss more weight than the other samples.
