Determining the tourism potential of Bozova (Sanliurfa) district and recommendations for planning

"Proposals for Determining and Planning the Tourism Potential of Bozova (Sanliurfa) District" covers the evaluation of Sanliurfa province of Bozova in Southeastern Anatolia with recommendations for planning within the framework of data obtained from the area due to identification of potential tourism. Bozova county has significant destination with potential for cultural tourism in terms of its natural, historical and cultural resources. However, this field of research has fallen well behind the Turkish average in terms of social and economic indicators due to geographical limitations. Whereas the district, which has a significant historical background, has been a haunt of many civilizations. Over time, however, it has lost this trait, becoming its present state due to problems arising from local factors. The main problems may be that the district is distant to developed regions, the decline due to economic reasons, socio-cultural reasons, rapid population growth and, as a result, the migration of young populations, refugee migration due to proximity to countries experiencing war and political instability. However, when selecting a thesis, the point of action is to demonstrate that the natural, cultural and historical attractions that exist in the district should be addressed within the framework of cultural tourism and tourism planning and supported by proposals. In this regard, tourism activity to generate revenue is considered as a means of development in Bozova with tourism planning taking into account environmental, economic and socio-cultural indicators in the district. So much so that this requires correctly identifying the tourism potential that exists in the county and properly planning for this sector to be addressed. Because there will be no economic contribution for the local people and the country at large, there will also be an opportunity for significant losses related to the structural, social and natural environment. The Bozova district, which has many natural, historical and cultural attractions within this scope, has unfortunately been quite ineffective at the point of using them. There are various reasons for this effect. In particular, the lack of development of a tourism policy, lack of other tourism supplies, and social unrest in the region have negatively affected tourism development. However, a key motivator of tourism will be the work that can be done in the region and will be effective to address the negatives. In this context, this work aims to provide a new perspective on the economic development of the Bozova region through the identification of tourism potential, sustainable tourism and planning.
