Abstract (EN)

Bozuyuk is located in southeast part of Marmara Region in Turkey. It is the biggest of 8 counties in Bilecik city.Bozuyuk has started to become more important during Kanuni Sultan Suleyman?s epoch in 17th century and considerably developed after a kulliye is built in the city during the epoch of Kasim Pasha, the Grand Seignior of Anatolia. The county is located in the intersection of the highways and railways of Istanbul ? Eskisehir ? Ankara and Ankara ? Bursa. The traditional houses in the center of Bozuyuk are usually two-story houses. Timber, adobe, stone and brick are used to build the houses which are made using beam filling technique. The subject of my thesis is the historical Turkish houses in Bozuyuk whose number has decreased fairly in the last decades. Most of the houses have been collapsed and the ones which did not collapse went to wrack and ruin since they are not used anymore. In this thesis, general information about the history of Bozuyuk and the features of historical Turkish houses are given. Moreover, the frontages of the historical houses are examined deeply and the houses are classified according to the typology created considering the frontage of the houses. The photos of the houses and frontage drawings are included to the study, as well.
