The new belief system tried to make a room for itself by forbidding the previous one partly or completely. But, the previous belief always succeeded in keeping its importance in a way in Turkish culture and lasted its existence in Turkish social life up to now. In the first part, the functions of some old Turkish belief types called Tengri, İyeler, Kişioğlu and Kam are told here connected with religion and folklore which have also a great importance in bringing societies together and making them a nation as well as the other factors. In the second part, the Turkish beliefs that directed the transitional ceremonies such as birth, naming, marriage, military service and death that have effects on human life were fixed and exemplified. And besides, the ceremonies and practices (victim, rain prayer, hunting... ect.) resulted from the old Turkish religions and that have affected the local people were introduced. In the thi part, the beliefs and practices concerning good luck and bad luck, dream, colour, the evil eye, folk calendar, and public medicine were examined under the title of "The other beliefs and traditions."
