Ergonomy factor in space-furniture organization in offices and effect on productivity : A bank example

ABSTRACTOffice buildings can be defined as places of common use where employees from variousstatus spend most of their day. If we define architecture too as organizing of place for thehuman, accepted as the primary element, we can say that ergonomy is an important part ofdesign and working places that are designed ergonomically create positive influences onhuman.In this respect, the study is consisting of 6 parts:The first part contains the aim of the work and the introduction.In the second part, the changing process of the offices, the technological changes in thisprocess by the developments in trade and the introduction of ergonomy factor into the officesare being told in respect of their historical processes. Also in this part, types of plan andfurnitures that have been formed according to these proceses are catagorized too.In the third part, starting from a small scale, the element of ergonomy in the offices are beingexamined with examples. Meanwhile by taking the human factor into consideration, what thefactors that may affect productivity can be in a good design is also one of the subjects that arebeing focused on in this part.In the fourth part the study is being examined by enlarging the scale a bit more. Dealing withthe study area as a whole, how the ergonomical conditions must be is also focused on.The ergonomical needs for the organisation of working places and the basic criteria that mustbe considered of are being told in the fifth part.And in the sixth part, under the light of all these information, the ergonomy factor is beingexamined in the example of a bank, in which its influential use is very much needed. In thispart the productivity of ergonomy too is being discussed.Key words: Ergonomy, productivity, office buildings, banks, antropometric needs.
