A research on toxicological properties of design plants of Bursa urban parks

Plants are living beings that exist or want to exist in many areas of our lives. However, when using plants both indoors and outdoors, it is necessary to learn about their aesthetic and functional properties as well as their toxic properties. Air purification, erosion control, moisture balance, etc. Plants, which have many positive features, can also cause poisoning cases on humans and animals due to the toxic components they contain. In order to avoid such undesirable situations, it is necessary to examine plants from every angle in landscape designs and to use them in accordance with the environment and user profile. However, researches show that plant toxicology is neglected in landscape designs and there is not enough information about plant toxicology. In this study, the toxicological properties of Bursa city parks design plants were investigated, taxa containing toxic components were determined, and the components that cause toxicity and the symptoms of poisoning were given in detail. According to the data of the research, the number of taxa with toxicity that can cause serious illness and death; It is 9 in Hüdavendigar City Park, 15 in Soğanlı Botanical Park, 15 in Reşat Oyal Kültürpark and 8 in Merinos City Park. It has been observed that the average of the taxa with taxic features in all parks is 56.76 % and the Reşat Oyal Culture Park is above the average with a rate of 63.33 %.
