Abstract (EN)
This research examines the social position of women in rural areas and the effects of the changing rural structure on women from a sociological perspective. The research, conducted in the Paşalar village of Bursa's Mustafakemalpaşa district, was evaluated based on women's daily life practices, gender roles, and invisible labor in economic production. The research examines how the structure of rural life shaped by patriarchal values subordinates and devalues women. In addition, the changes that modernization and social transformations in rural areas have created on women's identity have been analyzed. In the research conducted for this purpose, qualitative research method was used; the data obtained through in-depth interviews and participant observation reveal the invisibility and worthlessness experiences of women at both social and individual levels. Findings show that despite the central role of women in production in rural areas, they are excluded from decision-making processes and are in a secondary position in economic, social and cultural areas. Keywords: Being a woman in rural areas, Pasalar village, Devaluation of peasant women.
