Abstract (EN)

This thesis examines the role of incentive and tax policies in the production of GI products, especially in the context of budget and current account deficit problems. In line with the purpose, the concepts of budget and current account deficit are first explained. Today, a country's budget deficit and current account deficit are critical factors affecting economic stability. Then, geographical indication products are discussed in terms of the budget and geographical deficit problem. In this section, the geographical indication is defined and the Cappadocia Region is discussed since the geographical indication is associated with a specific region. The production of GI products gains importance as an area shaped by economic policies. In the last section, the contributions of incentive policies to the local economy and the types of tax policies are mentioned. National and international literature reviews were utilized for the study. In addition, detailed information about incentives and tax policies was obtained by interviewing the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Nevsehir Commodity Exchange with face-to-face interviews, which is a qualitative data collection method. The data obtained from institutions and organizations were analysed by content analysis method and used in the thesis. The geographical indication product data used in the thesis were obtained from the geographical indication portal site of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
