In their choice of clothes, the expectations of young ladies with large size from designing (Between the ages 15 and 20)

Besides protecting the body against the iner and outer factors and giving comfort, Clothing, one of the basic and physiological needs, is of great importance for the individual to be accepted and admired by the society. A good and elaborate dressing can be achieved by clothes which are both functional, fitting for the body and having a good look.Garments are the reflections of the individuals? emotions, personal characteristics, ideas and life styles.Human body forms differ from one society to another with respect to the genetics, the location, dietary conditions, and socio-economic conditions. Being very influencial on body sizes, these differences are directly related with ready-made clothing.With the demands of the obese people for the garments which are fashionable, functional, over-sized clothing design has considerably progressed. Besides, with the increasing need aesthetical and ergonomic, to meet the demand for the over-sized clothes has received a greater significance.In order to meet the demands of the consumers of over-sized clothes, it is necessary to know the physical variances in over-sized bodies and different body types It is necessary that the firms manufacturing for the over-sized consumers should take these differences into consideration and re-structure the whole design and production process accordingly. To fully meet the demands, the garments are to be ergonomically fit for the human body.It is essential that ergonomic characteristics of the over-sized bodies be fully known, and that this knowledge be used properly in the design of the clothes.In this descriptive study, the factors affecting the design process in over-sized clothes design for the young girls were investigated. The Questionnaire forms which had been prepared to identify the problems which the young over-sized girls encountered, were applied to young girls between 15 and 20 years old in Ankara.The data obtained through the questionnaire forms were analysed with SPSS software program, and the percentages and the mean values of the data were calculated.By taking the findings of the study into consideration, it has been seen that young ladies wearing large size clothes have some problems resulting from designs and patterns.Some suggestions have been made in order not to confront such problems and to reduce them to the lowest degree.
