The Great City and People phenomenon, the impact of plastic arts

Mingling with the crowds is like entering to "a magical society composed by dreams" or diving into "a bottemless electric cistern". And the artist is like "a mirror big as the crowd itself" or like "a kaleidoscope outfitted with consciousness": a mirror which reproduces "the diversity of life, all of its elements' frivolous elegance", describes life with "alive images from the life which is always unstable, unruly".(Simmel,2012:12) What is implied by the expression of "mingling with the crowds" is the big cities. Everything happened in there, has presented itself in plastic arts as well. All the political, sociological, scientific, cultural developments, facts and process from the perspective of the big cities and their histories which is dealt in the question or the subject of art has always been the subject of art. Big cities and city centers follow universal happenings before the other cities. The cities are ever-changing areas in political, geographical, cultural, sociological, architectural, technological aspects. However, the social process which affect these kind of changements can not come off very quickly. The society is the main course of art. Art should be the follower of its own work. Each artist is unique. While creating his work of art from his own perspective, the environmental factors, his life, his beliefs, his experiences accompany him. The artist expresses the interactions, desires, abandonments, reactions by his own universal language just like everybody else. In this article, the concept of the city and the significant events, developments throughout the history, its reflections on the plastic arts are analyzed.The enlightenment movements beginning with the modernization and the art and the artist of the big cities has been searched with the visual and written sources and evaluated in the conditions of the time.
