Abstract (EN)

The method applied in making pottery during the Great Seljuk Empire and those similarly produced dates back to the 5th century BC those used in the Far East. This method forms the main materials for glazed objects like small drawings and beads. But this kind of pottery production was suspended for a while due to high quartz rate and after nearly 1000 years in the 12th century or in earlier times mentioned kind of production of structure with high quartz rate was aroused by potteries living in Syria or most probably in Iran again. This status provided the necessary materials for production of white and intensive structure that is imitation of Chinese Porcelain. Several terms like tile, ceramic with quartz, ceramic with quartz ? frit, frit ware, frit paste, stone paste are used for body material of this structure. Quartz ceramic production has started in Iran and Syria that were under the control of Great Seljuk Empire. Previous techniques of glazing and decoration were kept on and mixed by new structure and attained successful results. Though it was so hard to shape the mud with high quartz rate, it was achieved skillfully and enriched with new techniques during the Great Seljuk Empire reign. Ceramics produced during the Seljuk reign has an important role in the history of ceramic production not only their characteristics of form and decor but also their body structure. Torques glazing which was commonly used in the ceramics produced during the Seljuk reign was used in almost all techniques. Torques color which is obtained by adding copper to glazes with high alkali differs due to alumina and silicate rates of structure it is applied. In case alumina rate is low and silica rate is high including added copper the color of glaze becomes blue and in case alumina rate is high and silica rate is low it becomes nearly green. As an outcome of investigation it is asserted that glazed used in Seljuk reign has alkali and high silica rate considering the structure it is applied. In the first section of abstract the ceramic production, its raw materials and characteristics of form and decoration will be mentioned. Besides in this section tests upon torques glaze with quartz ceramic structure is performed in accordance with analysis and information in references. In the second section new designs are carried out by using tried ceramic bodies and glazes.
