Investigation of perlan comercial preparation effect on growth suppressed cauliflower seedlings

A balanced root-stem ratio is an important quality factor in vegetable seedlings. For the height control of seedlings, paclobutrazol, a plant growth regulator, is generally applied. However, cauliflower seedlings are sensitive to paclobutrazole. Incorrect dosage causes suppression of growth of cauliflower seedlings. In such cases, some growth regulators or balanced fertilizers for cauliflower seedlings may not be benefitial. Therefore, there are commercial losses. The purpose of this master thesis is to determine the effect of Perlan (%18,8 6-Benzyladenine + %18,5 GA4+7), a commercial preparate, application on cauliflower seedlings whose growth is suppressed by the application of paclobutrazol. For this purpose, the growth of cauliflower seedlings was suppressed with the help of paclobutrazol and 0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 500 and 1000 ppm doses of Perlan commercial preparate were applied to get out of this period. Evaluations were made by the measurements of the seedling length, seedling diameter, leaf number, leaf length and leaf diameter of the plants. As a result of these evaluations, the maximum elongation amount with an increase of 129.33% in the height of the cauliflower seedlings was observed in the plant groups treated with 250 ppm Perlan. There was an equal increase in the number of leaves with the doses other than the control group. The highest increase in leaf length compared to the pre-application showed a dose of 300 ppm (16.18%), followed by a dose of 250 ppm (15.42%). It was determined that the best results in leaf diameter values were doses of 250 and 300 ppm. When evaluated in general, 250 and 300 ppm doses of Perlan with a single application were found successful in growth suppressed seedlings. From an economic point of view, 250 ppm Perlan dosage is recommended for cauliflower seedlings.
