Abstract (EN)
Mythologies, which reflect each society's worldview, belief system, social order, and value judgments, convey not only ancient stories but also a society's intellectual, moral and social codes. In this sense, mythology can be said to contain the cultural codes of gender roles. The narratives of mythological women, who appear in various roles as goddesses, sheroes, healers, sages, or seductive, destructive and frightening figures in different times and geographies around the world, can be considered a source for understanding the mythical foundations of female identity and the processes of construction in patriarchal social structures. In art and ceramics, which have played an important role in the transmission of mythology since the beginning of human history, tracing how mythological women are represented provides important data for observing the historical transformation of the perception of womanhood. The approaches of female artists to this subject is considered important for research in that they offer a unique perspective, free from patriarchal codes, by transforming these figures in line with their own experiences, identities, and social critiques. In this research, various representations of mythological women in art and ceramic art are examined through different periods and artists within the context of the mythology- gender relationship; the representation of mythological women in contemporary ceramic art is explored from a woman-centered perspective, and the subject is approached both scientifically and artistically through personal artworks.
