Abstract (EN)

This study tested whether employee commitment has an effect on organizational performance and investigated whether this relationship is regulated by strategic human resources practices. The field study of the research was carried out in Erbil, Iraq, and individuals working in businesses operating in the product and service sectors were targeted. Erbil's rapidly growing economic structure and cultural diversity provided an important opportunity to relate the findings of this research to local business dynamics and cultural context. A total of 259 data were collected within the scope of the research and these data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The analysis results revealed that employee commitment positively affects organizational performance and the strength of this relationship increases with strategic human resources practices. In particular, it was determined that strategic human resources practices such as improving performance evaluation systems, increasing training and development programs for employees, and effectively implementing reward systems play an important regulatory role in increasing the level of employee commitment and, as a result, making a positive contribution to organizational performance. These findings show that it is not enough for businesses to focus only on increasing employee commitment, but also that they should shape their human resources policies within a strategic framework. In a city like Erbil, where cultural and ethnic diversity is high, the fact that employees in the workplace have different backgrounds makes the results of the research even more meaningful. Strategies to increase employee engagement should be designed to support the motivation and performance of the workforce in the region. At the same time, the effective implementation of strategic human resources practices is critical for businesses in Erbil to increase their competitive advantage and achieve sustainable growth in the long term.
