Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this postgraduate thesis research is to examine the mediating role of organizational commitment in the influence of psychological well-being on job performance within port employees. Three scales made up of survey questions will be employed in the studys as methods for collecting data. The well-being scale, the job performance scale, and the organizational commitment scale are these measures. Using the convenience sampling approach, a sample group of 359 people was chosen from the population of 3000 employees of a port operation in Mersin, Turkey, and data was gathered from this group. In regression analyses, it is recommended in the literature to use Tabachnick et al. (2013) 'n>50+8m' formula to calculate whether sufficient sample size has been reached. The sample group was asked a total of 37 questions spanning the three application measures and demographic details. IBM SPSS 27 (IBM Corp., Released 2020) and Jamovi (The Jamovi Project, 2024) were used for data analysis in the study. Using Cronbach's Alpha reliability analysis, these scales'internal consistency and reliability were assessed. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to determine if the score distributions from the measuring instruments for the various groups were normal (Shapiro and Wilk, 1965). Since the measurement tool scores showed a normal distribution, relationships between the scores were assessed using the Pearson correlation test. Next, using the Bootstrap approach, the mediating function of organizational commitment in the relationship between employee well-being and work performance was investigated. The study's finding unequivocally demonstrate that maintaining professional expertise and experience, as well as strong physical and mental health, are essential for port operation workers to continue reaping the benefits of their jobs. According to the data obtained, the most influential factor partially mediating this significant relationship is continuance commitment. It has also been found that psychological well-being positively affects job performance, and in this context, the concept of organizational commitment plays a partially mediating role. Employees in port operations derive the concept of organizational commitment from their sense of belonging and attachment to their workplace.
