Abstract (EN)

The concept of burnout, defined in the World Health Organization (1998) report as "excessive emotional fatigue resulting from overwork and the resulting inability to fulfill work and responsibilities", is one of the most important problems experienced by individuals and organizations in today's business life. The purpose of this research is to examine the burnout levels of nurses. According to the findings obtained from the research, it was determined that the burnout levels of male participants were higher than those of females. It was found that there was an inverse proportion between the age group of the participants and their burnout levels. It was observed that the emotional exhaustion levels of married nurses were higher than those of single nurses. It was concluded that the burnout levels of single nurses were higher in terms of the dimensions of desensitization and feeling of failure. There was a direct proportion between the level of education and general burnout and emotional exhaustion; the inverse proportion was between the dimensions of desensitization and feeling of failure. Similarly, a direct proportion was found between the professional seniority and the emotional exhaustion dimension; the inverse proportion was found between the professional seniority and the dimensions of general burnout, desensitization and feeling of failure. The significant difference wasn't found between the hospital where the participants worked and the professional burnout level. A strong positive relationship was found between the three sub-dimensions in the measurement tool and the total scale score. Keywords: Burnout, Service Industry, Nurse, Health
