Abstract (EN)

In this seismic microzoning study, electrical and dynamic properties of surface geology are determined by electrical resistivity at 46 stations and microtremor measurements at 44 stations. Each resistivity station was processed by one-dimensional inversion technique and represented the resistivity distribution as Pseudo three-dimensional volumetric resistivity depth slices. Interpretation of direct current resistivity data presents that a resistive structure (~150 ohm-m) exists between Çanakkale strait and Sarıçay basin, extending towards western part of the study area. The resistivity values decrease towards the eastern side points out the general properties of alluvial deposits. On the other hand, subsequent to application of some signal processes to microtremor measurements, fundamental vibration periods and soil amplification factors were determined for the each station and shown as distribution map. Predominant vibration periods were determined in the range of 0.15-1 sec. and the periods with the value between 0.5 and 1 sec., which point out soft alluvial layers, observed in the middle and south part of the Sarıçay basin. Additionally, small period values were observed at the northern side, where topography is high and consist of older geological units than alluvium, and this indicates relatively compact zones. That can be said, calculated soil amplification factors have a good agreement with the predominant period values. However, by the aim of attracting attention to good correlation of alluvial depths, a comparison was carried out between calculated depending on common usage of fundamental vibration period of soil and s wave velocity information by the equation of Kanai and observed sounding logs. In the light of results of study, it is strongly suggested to research alternative settlement areas or apply ground improvement techniques in case of unfavorable ground conditions in the planning level of engineering structures.
