The effect of animation on student success and their attitudes towards the courses

The aim of the study named as The effect of animation on student success and their attitudes towards the courses is to analyze the effect of Animation on the success and attitude of Primary Education 4th grade students on electricity unit in Science and Technology course. The existence and description of Animation have been examined in the context of history in the part where the researches related to conceptual frame are being explained. Since the first examples of animation, the history, technology and design of animation have been examined starting from the production and usage of it in the frame of its basics. Developing materials have been described since 1800?s during animation production stages and its production. Classic animations, computer animation, model animation which are used at animation production process have been explained. Developments obtained during the process and studies made in America and Turkey have been examined. The place of Karagöz and Hacivat in Turkish Animation Arts and the artists taking important place in the development of animation in Turkey have been analyzed. Films (long or short), soap operas, promotion of productions with commercial purpose, advertisements and multimedia productions, industrial productions and presentations aimed at graphics, private subjected or free competition films, test films in which new styles or types are being searched, test and model films which are the usage field of animation have been mentioned. Animation design materials have been introduced. Artist, scenario, used objects, colors, music and supply-demand problem which are the effective elements at animation production process have been given information about. All animation techniques have been examined under the title of Traditional Animation with a large concept. Concepts and facts in the content of science, science structure and content with the explanation of activities in the process of understanding the knowledge and making it sustainable by explaining the importance of animation in education have been given. After the importance of Science had been mentioned, the place and importance of animation in science courses in primary school was explained. After the reason of usage of animation in education and the importance of animation in Science courses had been talked about, important studies related to the subject all through the country or internationally and also related researches forming the last part of conceptual framework took place. The research model of doctorate thesis titled as The effect of animation on student success and their attitudes towards the courses, characteristics of the researcher, the environment of the research, the features of respondents, the methods used in the equation of the respondents and their evaluation, individual information forms used during the collection of data, attitude scale, success test, preparation, development and design process of the animation in addition to the interview form have been explained. Also under the title of method Denel procedure and post-Denel procedures have been examined. The analysis of sub-problems taking place under the basic problem of the research in findings and comments part has been commented on. At the beginning of application process, during the process and after the application; confirmative quantitative and qualitative analyses have been made that will explain the existent situation in the direction of the research; information has been given on basics by relating the results with other analysis methods with the results of test which have been parametric or non-parametric. Comments have taken place in the light of analysis related to the problems. The results reached by the analyses made in the fifth part titled as results and suggestions have been arranged; at the end of these results, suggestions in the context of usage of animation on student success have taken place. While the positive and negative aspects of animation usage are being shown, the differences of course and subject based animation have been presented, other issues to be taken care during the production and application of animation have been arranged. At the end of the research, it is resulted that the usage of animation in electric unit in science and technology course of primary school 4th classes increases the success in understanding, comprehension process of the course. However, it is pointed out that animation usage in education is not relevant for all courses according to the course and content of the subject, it is mentioned that it is effective in success when it is used in different meanings from daily life and in an abstract manner. Suggestions also have been given on animation design process, application and evaluation phases.
