Monography of Çayirdüzü village (Rize - Çamlihemşin)

Different civilizations have existed in our lands down through the ages. Cultural variety has enriched our lands by creating a mosaic structure. This enrichment has been reflected and well blended to the literatures and lifestyles of people along with many other areas of life and it still being existed today. Colors of cultural variety can be observed throughout the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey. Folk literature, folk science items, life styles of the people in Çayırdüzü village in Çamlıhemşin/Rize, and many other information about the village have been investigated and compiled in this study. Most of these compiled items are based on verbal sources, therefore, this study aims collecting rich verbal items -which have been handed over from generations to generations and are in the verge of losing their moral values due to the fast-growing technology- in one written source in order to prevent them to be lost. This study is a field research. During the field research interviews and observation methods have been used for compilation. This study consists of introduction and four chapters. In the introduction chapter, compilation methods used in the field research are explicated. In the first chapter, general information about Rize, Çamlıhemşin and Çayırdüzü Village are explained. In the second chapter, folk literature items of the field are examined. The third chapter gives the information about folk science items of the field. Finally, daily life and folk information of the village is demonstrated in the fourth chapter.
