Abstract (EN)
In addition to the damages caused by the grapevine moth in the vineyards in Ahmetli district, Manisa province, substantial economic expenses for the pesticides and the pesticide residues are the most notable problems caused by such pest. Utilizing agricultural pesticides, biological and biotechnical pest control methods with pheromone traps, in in the vineyards, does not only reduces the expenses for the pesticides but only saves the farmer from significant time and labor expenses required for pesticide application. Almost no grapevine moth is seen in the vineyards at where pheromone traps are applied. The male moth could not find and mate with the female moth since the scent of the female moth wraps around the male moth due to the confusion technique by releasing female moth scent in the vineyards bound with Isonet -L pheromone trap. Therefore, the grapevine moth could not reproduce quantitively required to cause damages. Also, the farmers using conventional production methods also use pheromone traps to avoid pesticide residue problems. The Ministry of Agriculture pays 35 TL as the pheromone trap support contribution to the farmers applying such traps on their grapevines to fight against the grapevine moth as one of the most notable pests in the vineyards, to increase uses of such traps by acre and to avoid pesticide residue problem. At the time of occurrence of the damages of the grapevine moth, even after irrigation of the area, no damage occurs from the grapevine moth since the mating will not be realized due to the confusion caused by the pheromone traps on the grapevines. In the study carried out with 8 farmers in Gokkaya and Karakoy neighborhoods, pheromone traps were tied in the lands of 2 farmers in Gokkaya neighborhood and none was tied in other 2 farmers' lands; and similarly, pheromone traps were tied in the lands of 2 farmers in Karakoy neighborhood and none was tied in other 2 farmers' lands. In these vineyards, grapevine moths were counted 2 times per week during the growing period with climate data follows up; and data was provided upon analysis of the pesticide application periods at the vineyards of the 8 farmers.The farmers reported the pesticides they used during the year for pest control, and all expense items for such pest control were recorded one by one. The difference between the vineyards with and without pheromone traps was compared by using calculations and follows up, and the importance of utilization of pheromone traps is understood in viticulture.
