COMPUTER PROGRAMMING FOR STEEL TYPES AND HEAT TREATMENT OF STEELS ( M.Sc. Thesis ) Burhanettin INEM GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY August 1988 ABSTRACT The heat treatment procedures of steel are generally obtained from the steel producer's catalogs. But it is a time consuming job to find the heat treatment procedures of different steels in these catalogs. To overcome this problem a computer program has been prepared. The heat treatment properties, chemical compositions, mechanical properties after heat treatment, time- temperature curves, and foreign standard equivalents of MKEK and ASIL ÇELİK steels had been accounted for the data base. Using the program, it is possible to obtain extensive amount of information about the properties of steels in a very short period of time. If necessary, xt is also possible to add new data to the current data-base, to obtain printouts of time-temperature curves and other information. Thus, the program may meet most of the requirements of industry. Ill
