Abstract (EN)

have found out that there are three phases of his poetical works and weemphasize that each phase enriches the others. The parallelism between hispoetic views and his poetry and some works that are against his poetics arediscussed in the main part of the study through a close examination ofpoems? structure, themes and narration.Because this study titled ?Cemal Süreya?s Poetry (Structure,Themes and Narration)? is defined not as a discussion of a historical periodbut as an analysis of style, in each chapter the poet?s poems published as abook are evaluated as regards structure, themes, oration and narration.Biographical details of the poet and information about the poetry of kinciYeni and his poetics, which are presented in the ?Introduction?, are used toanalyze and assess his poetry when occasion avails.With his books ?Üvercinka? (1958), ?Göçebe? (1965), ?Beni Öp SonraDoğur Beni? (1973), ?Uçurumda Açan? (1984), ?Sıcak Nal? (1988) and ?GüzBitigi? (1988), Cemal Süreya is an important poet of the modern TurkishPoetry that developed after 1950. The positive and negative reactions hegets at the time of the publication of his books are remarkable to show howhis poems are perceived then. These reactions are included in the beginningof the discussion of each book. By discussing each book according tostructure, themes, oration and narration, the development and the settlementof the poetic attitude of the poet are emphasized.In ?Cemal Süreya?s Poetry (Structure, Themes and Narration)?,written as an analysis of style, it has been found out that Cemal Süreya is apoet of the modern Turkish poetry with a poetic attitude. The scope andborders of this attitude have been demonstrated with the works analysed anddiscussed in each chapter.Keywords: Cemal Süreya, kinci Yeni (The Second New),poetry, poetics, idiosyncrasy (attitude), structure, themes and orationin poetry.
