Abstract (EN)
Buildings and their elements are defined using an analytic approach for multiple use, modification, maintenance, and renovation designed to allow dissociative layers since architecture is considered as a system. When defining a building as flexible, it is needed to integrate the building with its subsystems and other building layers. Designing the building with sub systems and components, gives flexibility which helps to easily assemble and disassemble. In that way buildings can be separated into layers that has their own life cycle. Easy assembling and disassembling of layers, prevent damages to the rest of the building when maintenance or reparation is needed and extends life span of the building. Considering the lifespans of the building layers, it seems that the facade is one of the weakest layers of the building. According to Brand[1] the structure has 60 years lifetime while the facade has only 20 years. This situation addresses that the facade needs to be changed 3 times during the structure lifetime. Buildings allow system modification, maintenances, and renovations when they are designed as flexible through Design for Disassemble principles. The facade was analyzed with a flexible and sustainable design approach in the context of this thesis. In this process, the facade the relation between facade and building sub systems are examined. E2 facade studied and the outcomes are listed in the case study of the thesis. While computational design was created to help control and organize the whole construction process, it also creates the highest energy performance inside of the building. The result of this thesis is that, todays facade construction which focuses on energy performance in the designing step, should offer multiple usage choices presenting different facade combinations to the user. It?s very important that those combinations should be designed according to both user demands and energy performance criteria?s. The transforming process between combinations needs to be controlled. For that reason it?s better to create transforming plans and listing the components according to those plans and assembling methods.
