Abstract (EN)

Seismic performance of a ten storey R/C moment resisting frame system building satisfying the design rules of TERDC (2007) is evaluated according to ASCE41-06. It is thought that the building is located between the regions of near fault and far field or in the transition zone betwen these regions. The regions are defined as "Low and Moderate to High Seismicity" and "High Seismicity Near Known Faults" in NEHRP Provisions (2003). For the "High Seismicity Near Known Faults" regions, the hazard is generally determined with deterministic approach. On the other hand, the earthquake hazard is generally determined via probabilistic procedures in "Low and Moderate to High Seismicity" regions. For the transition zone between these regions earthquake hazard is determined by some rules. The effects of the selections of earthquakes from far field records and from near fault records which are regional or world wide on the seismic performance of the building is investigated for life safety and collapse preventation levels. The selections creating similar or different results are determined. The differences between the use of mean and median values are also investigated along the building height. Keywords: Seismic performance, ASCE/SEI 41-09, real earthquake record, earthquake record selection
