Middle-term results of talus fractures with surgical treatment

Aim: The aim of the presented study is the evaluation of mid-term clinical and radiological results of patients operated for talus fractures; through objective questionnaires and imaging techniques answered by the patients. Materials and Methods: The last radiographs obtained in the mid-term follow-up of patients with talus fractures who underwent surgical treatment in Celal Bayar University Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic, as well as VAS, AOFAS and AFI scores for clinical evaluation were examined. In addition, complications occurring during this period were evaluated. Results: There is no significant difference in the frequency of use of anterolateral, anteromedial, anterolateral + anteromedial and posterior surgical approaches used in the treatment. Similarly, no difference was found in terms of fixation type. The two most common complications were osteonecrosis (69.4%) and arthrosis (82%), both were most frequently observed in neck fractures. The mean VAS score evaluating the pain level of the patients was 2.6. The average of the AOFAS test we applied to evaluate the functionality of the foot was over 80. According to the AFI index, all of our patients' pain, disability, limitation and total index were below 20. Conclusion: The mid-term results of our patients who were operated with three different surgical approaches in our clinic after talus fracture are satisfactory both clinically and radiographically.
