Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the properties of electromagnetic shielding were investigated and the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (ESE) of some materials were measured. Measurement was carried out using the DFG 4060 wave generator and HF 60105 spectrum analyzer produced by Aaronia Company. Substances measured; unadulterated concrete, coal added concrete, foam styrofoam added concrete, aluminum foil strip added concrete, gas concrete and Bayburt stone. Especially Bayburt stone has important findings in terms of being a substance whose electromagnetic properties have not been previously investigated. Bayburt stone shielding up to 8 dB at 1.5 GHz has been achieved. Shielding effectiveness of 9 dB was achieved with aerated concrete at 1300 MHz. At 5400 MHz frequency, aluminum showed 5 dB shielding efficiency. In addition, the shielding effectiveness of some other building materials, such as glass and wood, was simulated in the COMSOL Multiphysics software, and the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of a 10 square meter building was gradually increased by increasing the conductivity of the concrete used. In addition, electromagnetic shielding effectiveness were observed in tissues such as bone tissue, muscle tissue, skin tissue. With computer aided simulation shielding efficiencies related to the geometric properties of aircrafts measured by an experiment was performed using the simulation of geometric optics (GO) and it was determined that geometry was very important in wave scattering.
