Abstract (EN)
There is effective method as adsorption which is relatively useful and economical for quickly lowering the concentration of organic and inorganic impurities in waste water. Because of their mechanical stability, low specificity, fast adsorption kinetics and high adsorption capacities; activated carbon which is used to remove organic compounds, metal ions and dissolved dyes from waste water, is accepted as one of the most popular material for adsorption. But price of activated carbon is relatively high. For this reason initiative have been started to study reduced cost and made of natural sorbents to remove impurity from wastewater. About production of activated carbon using lower cost methods and materials from renewable resources have been searched by many researchers. In one of this research, activated carbon using agricultural and industrial waste materials was produced. Activated carbon can be produced from all carbon-containing lignocellulosic agricultural waste as lignin, macro-algal, defective coffee press cake, palm shell, rice husk, wastes of vegetable-fruit origin (e.g. nut shells, fruit stones). As the investigations, used microwave process instead of pyrolysis provide lots of advantage as high heating rates, controllable and selective heating; energy and time savings. The aim of this study is to investigate that activated carbon obtained by microwave pretreatment is removed zinc metal from waste water. In this study, chemical activation (with ZnCl2 and H2SO4) of orange, pineapple and pomegranate peels which were subjected to microwave treatment in constant power and different times was carried out. Then product activated carbons were used for adsorption experiment. Activated carbons which were obtained with only chemical activation were used as reference material. Although different from each other significant weight losses are observed in the microwave process for each different time, there is substantially no effect on the zinc removal. .P-800-4-H2SO4 was the product which has best adsorption capacity with removal %94 of 40 ppm Zn solution.
